Our take
At $29.99, this might be worth it for Prince of Persia fans looking for a roguelike twist. A bit risky without a Metacritic score though.
The Rogue Prince of Persia brings a new roguelite approach to this legendary series. You get the usual platforming and combat, but now with repeat runs and evolving challenges. This could be a fresh take for seasoned fans, but the user rating isn’t stellar, and the lack of a Metacritic score raises questions about overall quality. It might remind some of the 2D platforming era games from the franchise, yet the roguelite mechanics might not appeal to everyone. Evil Empire's take seems ambitious, introducing dark magic and a repeat-play structure to the classic universe.
Pros
- Roguelite twist on the classic Prince of Persia formula
- Platforming and acrobatic combat
- New storyline with dark magic elements
Cons
- No Metacritic score yet
- User rating is only 3.57/5
- Unclear how it balances platforming and combat
You play as the Prince, mastering platforming and combat skills to battle through the capital city repeatedly. The goal is to thwart a Hun invasion using dark magic. Roguelite elements mean each run might offer new challenges.
On Switch 2
Since there's no detailed performance data for Switch 2 yet, it's hard to say how smoothly it runs. Expect it to be similar to other ports unless specified otherwise.
